KEYNOTE SPEAKER:

It's not Web 2.0. It's not Web 3.0. It's simply life.

Peter Shankman, HARO “Help a Reporter Out”

shankman.jpgWe have more technology than ever before. We can reach more people than ever before, in shorter amounts of time. But that doesn’t mean we should do it! You can have all the tools in the world, but it doesn’t mean you know what to do with them! When Help a Reporter launched in March 2008, it quickly became one of the most successful word of mouth programs ever, attracting more than 75,000 current members without spending one penny on advertising. How? The beauty of social and viral technology is that it allows us to reach many, many people in nanoseconds. The danger of it? The exact same thing. Shankman will discuss social networking, viral marketing and all the fun ways to use them and perhaps most important, why sometimes not using any of them is your best bet.

Shankman shows you how marketers, businesses, publicists, and everyday humans are:

  • Using social media (or a facet thereof) to spearhead new marketing campaigns and initiatives
  • Realizing that just because it exists, doesn’t mean you have to use it
  • Getting smarter about social networking every day
  • Learning that it’s not about making something viral, but about making something good

About Peter Shankman
PR Week Magazine has described Peter as “redefining the art of networking,” and Investor’s Business Daily has called him “crazy, but effective.” Read Full Bio

Todd Murphy, Universal Information Services

toddmurphy.jpgThe challenge of keeping up with the public discussion about your business or organization just got a LOT more challenging. Media monitoring once involved just reviewing clippings and newscasts. Now, with blogs and tweets, it’s so much more. Todd Murphy of Universal Information Services will talk about all of the new options for managing your brand.
As Vice President of Universal, Todd orchestrates the development of cutting edge media monitoring and analysis services. With Broadcast and Internet news monitoring accounting for over 50% of corporate revenue, Todd’s team has developed comprehensive online and social media monitoring services, along with a strong media analysis program.
Outside of Universal Todd has held the position of President and board member for all of his industry associations. He’s also been instrumental in working with Congress on issues related to copyright law and media rights. Todd believes that while the mediums and modes of delivery for information may change, the principles and goals that PR professionals apply fundamentally remain the same. His message: tracking and analysis are key elements of a sound public relations effort.
